Year 5 - Spring 1 update
A full but fantastic term!
It was 6 weeks full of raiders and traiders last half term which was made very real by our outdoor game of Capture the Flag! Children were split into two teams and had to invade their oppositions bases! We have some VERY competitive children in Year 5!
We also had a special book day, in which we looked at The Lost Happy Endings by Carol Ann Duffy. It’s a magnificent book and the whole school were reading it at the same time. Children were split into groups and went to different adults who led a range of activities:
Mr Moughel focussed on Computing and Literacy, where children were challenged to make a newspaper report.
Mr Cotterill ran a PSHE workshop about thought diaries, happy memories and special people.
Miss McCallum unleashed her artistic side and taught the children how to use charcoal and paint to make some incredible pictures.
Mrs Spriggs carried out some wonderful co-ordinates based activities which got the children thinking.
Lastly, as I’m sure you may have already been aware, Mrs Wall made gingerbread with the children! The children weighed and mixed ingredients and most importantly ate! (It is fair to say that the staff didn’t get any gingerbread, and we certainly aren’t bitter about it!)
Special mentions go to Ayman and Jasmeen for achieving pupils of the half term after an incredible term it hard work, determination and great behaviour! I wonder who will earn it next term?
