Nursery - Spring 1
What a great start to the year!
This half term we have been busy sharing our favourite stories; we even shared our own books from home. We also went on a visit to the library where the librarian read us some stories and we chose a book to take back to school. We have been learning about how to retell stories and about characters and settings. As part of our stories we have learnt about farm animals and zoo animals. We have built bridges for the Billy Goats Gruff, had animal tea parties and been vets to look after the animals from our pet shop.
In phonics we have been singing lots of songs and rhymes, playing lots of listening games and listening for initial sounds.
In maths we have been learning to recognise numbers, learning about shapes, size and patterns and about our daily routines.
We had lots of fun investigating light and dark, day and night; we used the torches to read books inside the dark tent. We also investigated different technology and created farms on the interactive board.
As well as all this we have learnt about Chinese New Year where we had a Chinese restaurant, learnt to use chopsticks, made dragons and lanterns and danced like dragons; we even tasted some Chinese food.
In our last week we read Guess How Much I Love You as it was Valentine’s Day. We talked about who we love and made them a yummy heart biscuit.
