Year 2 - Spring 2 update
Last half term, Year 2 had a busy but wonderful time!
In geography we explored our locality and most children enjoyed a trip around the local area. We looked at the buildings around West Bromwich, visited the main library, St Michael's Church, Sandwell College and even went into West Bromwich Leisure Centre! We found out all about the continents and world oceans and even looked at physical and human landmarks. The children were thoroughly engaged and loved finding out all about places they could possibly go and visit! In English we had a fantastic time looking at a range of texts. The most popular by far was 'That Pesky Rat' and 'The House that Once Was' came a close second! The children really enjoyed debating whether or not we should keep a rat as a school pet or have it removed and all children wrote a very persuasive letter to Miss Heng stating their case! We finished the half term with a special whole school book focus on 'The Lost Happy Endings'. The children fully immersed themselves in this story and enjoyed the dramatised version delivered by the Year 2 teachers! Maths was focused on shape and the children explored similarities and differences between 2d and 3d shapes whilst our computing lessons explored ways in which we communicate. The children loved receiving and replying to an email from Little Red Riding Hood.
We can't wait to share Spring 2 with the children as we have some wonderful things planned!
