One of the highlights of the event came when a group of Year 4 pupils acted out a scene from one of Ben’s stories, Postman Planet. Their performance had everyone smiling — including Ben, who praised their enthusiasm and creativity.

After the reading, Ben answered a wide range of thoughtful questions from the children. He spoke about his writing process and shared how he often uses funny or unusual moments from his real job as a postman to spark ideas for his stories. The pupils were fascinated to learn how everyday experiences can turn into imaginative adventures on the page.

The visit left Year 4 buzzing with inspiration, and many children left the library eager to pick up a pen — or a book — of their own. It was a memorable day that celebrated reading, creativity, and the joy of storytelling.
